Stewart Looks Forward To 'Eleventh Hour', 'X3'

While many Star Trek actors have protested that they felt pigeonholed by the television roles that made them famous, Patrick Stewart (Picard) says he has a different problem: he's typecast in Shakespearean roles as much as sci-fi.

"I was restless and envious of those actors who were wearing ordinary clothes and driving cars," Stewart told Dreamwatch (via Sci Fi Pulse). He said he had taken a role on the new British series The Eleventh Hour because of its contemporary setting and themes.

Graham Praises Bakula In New Book On Acting

Frequent Star Trek: Enterprise guest star Gary Graham (Ambassador Soval) heaped praise on Scott Bakula (Jonathan Archer) in a new book on acting that was published earlier this year.

"Working with Scott is to remember what first drew me to acting. Playing," Graham wrote in the book, Acting & Other Flying Lessons, via Trek BBS user startraveller776. "Scott truly plays when he works and that spirit infects both cast and crew. Laughter is no stranger on a Star Trek: Enterprise set. With a lively and engaging wit, Scott regales anyone within earshot with a steady string of one-liners, self-deprecating remarks, and hilarious anecdotes. His co-star, the lovely and diminuitive Jolene Blalock [T'Pol], is often in stitches from his pranks and humorous asides."

David Hewlett is interviewed at GATEWORLD

David Hewlett is interviewed at Gateworld

EXCERPT:

GW: A lot of people are thinking that you must be the biggest request for conventions and we're wondering why you haven't shown up at so many, besides a little incident in London with one particular fan.

DH: One particular fan? When was that?

GW: We were talking with Rachel and she said ...

DH: Oh, God, did she tell you that? Oh, horrible woman. Horrible Rachel! I'm never telling Rachel anything ever again!Rachel is so lovely, isn't she? She's so sweet. I feel like I've not only been provided with a job and a life. I've been provided with entire friends as well. "Here's the social scene, too! You can all hang out! You're going to get along with these people fine!" Yeah -- no, I do.I get very uncomfortable with the economics of them. It feels very strange to me that money changes hands for autographs and that kind of stuff. I understand the need for it. It just makes me uncomfortable and I'm not saying that -- obviously we get paid for what we do and that's great, obviously it helps. So it's that. It's also just time. Unfortunately, there's a convention in Vancouver this weekend and I'd love to be there, but I haven't seen my girlfriend in three weeks and I have so many lines to learn for next week.

Nicolas Roeg's sci-fi classic The Man Who Fell...

Nicolas Roeg's sci-fi classic The Man Who Fell To Earth, which showed off David Bowie's unworldly acting talents, is to be remade. Warner Independent Pictures and Cherry Road Films have acquired the remake rights to the 1976 film as well as the rights to the Walter Tevis novel on which it was based. If you've only just recently landed on Earth, the story concerns an alien who comes here in the guise of a businessman on a mission to gain water for his home planet. Once here, he becomes embroiled in the greed of mankind as the head of a powerful international company.

Michael Caine has joined the cast of Alfonso Cuaron's sci-fi thriller Children of Men. The film, based on PD James's novel of the same name, is set in a dystopian London as the human race faces extinction. Already onboard are Clive Owen and Julianne Moore, and shooting is scheduled to begin shortly. After his London jaunt, Caine will travel to the US and reunite with his Batman Begins director Christopher Nolan and co-star Christian Bale on mystery drama The Prestige. Caine will play a retired conjuror who teaches tricks to an ambitious magician played by Hugh Jackman. Bale will play a rival magician and Nolan is producing the project.

Jack Black has signed on for the romantic comedy Holiday opposite Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet for Nancy Meyers, playing a film composer who befriends a British woman who has recently arrived in Los Angeles. According to Variety, Meyers, who directed Something's Gotta Give and What Women Want, is looking to round out the cast with a lucky British male to play Diaz's love interest. Black will next appear in Peter Jackson's King Kong, which opens around the world in December.

When I heard from LEGO about its charity...

When I heard from LEGO about its charity auction on eBay for this outstanding one-of-a-kind 8-foot model of a Star Wars Rebel Attack Cruiser built entirely out of LEGO bricks, I thought, fun idea -- but how many people are really going to bid on something that, well, large and geeky? (Can you just see what would happen if a dog or a three-year-old got hold of this? Hope it's glued together!) As I write this, 45 bids are in, the most recent for over $20,000. The auction goes for 8 more days; I can't wait to see how high it goes. Here are some details:

Stem to stern the model is 97 inches long and 47 inches wide, weighs over 150 pounds and is created using over 35,000 pieces.

Model features precise detail in LEGO form, fuctional elements and secret features.

Model is built around a steel armature that runs down the spine of the ship and includes a rolling steel display frame.

Model took over 450 hours to design and build.

So if you're got mucho disposable cash on hand and are (or know) someone who adores all things Star Wars and LEGO, you'll be doing good things for your karma by bidding. All proceeds go to Habitats for Humanity International, specifically to help hurricane victims.

Join as a Charter Member of the Temple...

Join as a Charter Member of the Temple of the Jedi Order

The Temple of the Jedi Order is a recognized bona fide religion. You may belong to any Church or no Church and be a member. Since we only believe in Peace, Justice, and using all of our abilities for Good -- we do not conflict with your religion. If you don't believe in this way of life, this is not the place for you. We will incorporate as a non-profit corporation under the laws of the State of Texas on December 25, 2005. If you become a member now you will forever be a Charter Member. As a member you may request to be a legally licensed minister and can perform marriages and other ceremonies. Please check with me before you do so as some states require special registration which I will provide. Only a few states require that the minister be 18 years old so as long as you are at least 13 (in most states) you can still conduct marriages!

The Temple may grant you the title of Knight after you have been a member for awhile and I have spoken with you personally. This is a serious commitment not to be taken lightly. A member of the Temple of the Jedi Order must hold the highest standards of Honor and Justice. You are a guardian of Peace and Justice. I can accept you as a Padawan at almost any age with your membership application at your request. Generally you have to be 13 to be a Knight. Don't even ask about becoming a Master; it would prove you are not ready.

We don't make the news; we just report on it.
