Stargate SG-1 is currently airing its ninth season on the Sci-Fi Channel as part of their Sci-Fi Friday lineup while Stargate: Atlantis has entered its second season. Both series have received critical acclaim for their writing, acting, special effects and more. With no signs of slowing down and exceeding 2 million viewers per episode, there does not appear to be an end in sight for the Stargate world.

"We are delighted to partner with Diamond Select Toys to bring a range of Stargate action figures to market. Their quality and attention to detail are renowned and make them the perfect partner for our premium sci-fi franchise" said Travis Rutherford, EVP of MGM Consumer Products &Location Based Entertainment.

The master sculptors of Jean St. Jean Studios and Plan B will provide highly detailed sculpts for the Stargate lines based on the series' stars, including Richard Dean Anderson, Amanda Tapping, Michael Shanks and Christopher Judge. Specific product announcements, as well as timetables for their release dates, will be featured in future Diamond Select Toys communications.

Stargate SG-1 co-star Michael Shanks ("Daniel Jackson") has...

Stargate SG-1 co-star Michael Shanks ("Daniel Jackson") has landed a guest spot on an upcoming episode of CSI: Miami, the actor told fans at the Wolf Events message board.

Shanks is required to be on set this Friday, forcing him to bow out of this weekend's Wolf SG-10 convention in London.

It's not known just how large his role on the hit series will be, but it is most likely the "potential major TV role" that forced him to cancel his appearance at last week's London Expo (due to a meeting in L.A.). Fans may breathe a little easier that the actor hasn't taken a full-time job that will preclude him from returning for the tenth season of Stargate SG-1, expected to begin production in Vancouver in March.

UPDATE: Shanks's publicist has passed along more details about the guest role (via Michael Shanks Online):

Script is always subject to change, but here is the role description. The turnaround is usually about a month or so on the air date, we won't know for sure until the episode is shot and edited.

Michael plays a landscape architect and boyfriend of a woman who was raped. The rape suspect is then in turn murdered, and Michael becomes one of a host of suspects in the man's death.
